Building Brand and Business on the Mobile Web – There’s a Map for That

Added By on

We’ve been pretty busy this summer developing a series of tools and resources for marketers interested in developing a comprehensive plan to carve a niche in the mobile space.

Assessing the Mobile User Experience – Assessment Report

We kicked off the summer with a pretty ambitious goal: to evaluate the mobile user experience for leading healthcare, nonprofit, financial and government organizations.

Our scope was confined to a heuristic evaluation of the mobile interfaces instead of going deep into the functionality and features provided. And while we recognized early on that it would be difficult, if not impossible, to come up with a mobile user experience evaluation framework that could be applied consistently across all vertical markets, we believed it would be helpful to our readers to have a rough framework for analysis. The results are our five mobile user experience assessment criteria below:

1. Whenever possible, and when it makes smart business sense, ensure your mobile interface utilizes the native features of the device

2. Optimize your mobile interface for key user tasks

3. Ensure your mobile interface is brand relevant

4. Monitor load and render time for mobile interfaces

5. Minimize or eliminate the use of Flash? and proprietary formats for mobile interfaces

What did we find? I encourage you to download the report, “Assessing the Mobile User Experience,” to find out.
