NAFSA Web Site Wins Awards from SNAP and APEX for Design and General Excellence

Reston, Va., July 7, 2006 –The Web site of NAFSA: Association of International Educators, built by Web technology specialist Siteworx, has won awards from the Society of National Association Publications (SNAP) and APEX, the annual contest for publication excellence.

Among the 1,040 entries in SNAP's EXCEL competition for online publishing, the NAFSA site received first place in the General Excellence category, and second place for the Design Excellence category. In the APEX annual awards for publication excellence with its 5,000 entries, the NAFSA site received honors in the category for Web & Internet Design and Illustration.

Part of what makes the NAFSA site so well received is its Axiom™ content management system (CMS) that makes storage, search and retrieval, and modification of content easy for users. Axiom integrates with NAFSA's iMIS® membership management software application, so the association's 9,000 members can subscribe to any of the 16 professional networks and access directories and libraries of information based on their interests and job functions.

"Using Axiom has allowed us to take our site to the next level in both design and responsiveness to user needs. Members are continually amazed at how quickly we can integrate new content and make changes based on their feedback, which was impossible with the old site," explains Alexander Traugott, Web manager for NAFSA.

Jeff Ellsworth, vice president of sales and marketing for Siteworx comments, "Associations have often struggled to find ways to maintain their value between conferences. With CMS technology they can keep members deeply involved by facilitating knowledge transfer, both within professional networks and across the organization. The recognition of the NAFSA site shows that the association community is moving in this direction."

SNAP ( www.snaponline.org ) is the one non-profit, professional society serving the needs of association publishers and communications professionals. The association's annual EXCEL Awards recognize and reward the exemplary work of association publishers with evaluations of more than 1,000 magazines, newsletters, scholarly journals, electronic publications and Web sites in the areas of editorial quality, design, general excellence, most improved and more. Web site entries are judged on design, content, presentation, functionality and aesthetic quality.

APEX ( www.apexawards.com ), the annual awards for publication excellence, is open to communicators in corporate, nonprofit and independent settings. The 18th annual APEX event is sponsored by the editors of Writing That Works, the newsletter for communicators who write, edit and manage business publications. Writing That Works is published by Communications Concepts, Inc.
